Do I need an office PC?

Office computers are mainly used for creating presentations, work with word processors, spreadsheets, and so on. They can also serve equally well as a modest home PC for ordinary users. On the other hand, office computers are not made for playing games or work with performance-intensive software such as video editing and CAD applications.

Should I choose a desktop office computer or an All-in-One PC?

There is a significant difference between the two in both the price and size, so it’s worth considering all the pros and cons before you decide.

Desktop Office PCs

Desktop office PCs are extremely popular. They are more budget-friendly than All-In-One models and make it easy to replace components. Their maintenance is also both simpler and less pricey, and you can easily improve performance by adding some extra RAM or replacing the processor.

All-In-One Office Computers

All-in-One office computers have all the components built into the monitor. It means this type takes up less space, gets rid of a lot of cables, and helps you keep your desk neat and tidy. All-in-One office computers also use less power, but replacing or upgrading their components is more difficult.

Touch All-in-One PCs are very user friendly and can make controls, photo viewing, or web browsing easier and more intuitive. The downside is a slightly higher purchase price and the fact that your monitor will sometimes have fingerprints on it.

What components should an office PC have?

An office computer doesn’t need costly high-performance components. They are chosen mainly for their reliability and low price.

  • Intel Core i3 or Intel Core i5 processors can easily handle office and business applications, making them the most common choice for office PCs.
  • 4GB of RAM is enough for the least performance-demanding applications. 8GB is the optimum capacity for every office PC, as it ensures your apps will run smoothly and you will be able to work with multiple programs simultaneously.
  • HDD hard drive storage gives you much more storage space at a lower price. On the other hand, SSDs are considerably faster and allow the operating system to boot up quickly, but this is reflected in their higher price.
  • When it comes to the graphics card, most office PCs need nothing more than the basic integrated version.

If you need to run extremely performance-intensive software, consider a workstation, which are designed for high processing power.
