Anna O.

Murderer or Victim?

The average person sleeps for thirty-three years. What are we capable of while asleep? And are we responsible for it?

Anna Ogilvy was a young, promising journalist from a well-off family until one day she was found, blood-soaked and with a knife in her hand, near the two bodies of her stabbed friends. But Anna O. has been asleep ever since, and for the next four years, no one has been able to wake her.

Doctor Benedict Prince is a forensic psychologist and an expert in sleep disorders, specialising in crimes committed during sleep. His innovative method for breaking “resignation syndrome”, as experts describe Anna's condition, is the last hope for waking Anna and the possibility of a fair trial. Such a professional goal is impossible to resist…

But the case of Anna O., namesake of a patient from Sigmund Freud's book, is under intense scrutiny, and Ben must act cautiously. Not only is he facing hateful attacks, but he also has professional secrets and a complicated personal life. Moreover, during the treatment, he becomes uncertain: did Anna really commit murder, or is there something else behind it? Only she knows the truth about what really happened that night. And only Benedict knows how to get to it. For both of them, it might not be a win. What if our nightmares are not nightmares at all?

The story, seen from the perspective of multiple characters, constantly twists and turns, escalating into a tense game of cat and mouse where it's not clear until the very last moment who is the cat and who is the mouse. A thrilling, unsettling thriller that won't let you go easily.
