Annie Bot
The perfect girlfriend in every way
She wears the clothes that Doug likes. She waits for him at home every evening. She never has a headache.
Annie is a robot created for Doug’s pleasure. A bespoke girlfriend, designed to love, obey, and satisfy her owner’s every desire at any time. What’s more, her learning mode means she’s constantly getting better at it. But when their relationship hits its first hurdle, Annie starts to see the world around her differently. She reflects on her identity and the established rules. She stops being a good girl – and starts asking questions.
Does Doug really deserve everything he wants from her? And what if happiness begins where obedience ends?
Reviews of the book:
Intense and compelling. And like all good robot stories, it's ultimately about what it means to be human.
- The Guardian
What is love without freedom? What is left of a relationship when one partner's only desire is to please the other? Annie Bot explores the depths of identity and intimacy, asking what it means to recognise humanity in others and in ourselves. Sierra Greer is a distinctive new voice in speculative fiction.
- Lauren Nossett, author of The Resemblance
