Becoming an investor

How to master the creative magic of the stock market

Sounds easy: From more than 60,000 publicly traded companies, you select the 4% that outperform the market average over the long term. You open an account with a stockbroker, determine the amount of your investment and buy shares. Anyone can do this!

However, we all know that the art of investing is not the result of correct technical practice. But what is behind the success of big investor names? Is the ability to recognize key stock market information and moments an innate talent of the chosen few and cannot be passed on? Mikuláš Splítek will convince you that there is a certain magic behind investing, but it can be learned.

He will guide you through the process of transforming yourself into a focused investor who perceives the feelings and takes into account the facts of his inner artist and scientist, who knows how to let go of the linearity of time, but most importantly, who already knows that a good investment is an expression of his effortfully refined worldview.

If you want to go through a personal transformation into an investor, you will learn:
- how to navigate stock market terminology
- what is the difference between value and growth strategy
- why you shouldn't overlook Benjamin Graham when studying
- how to find an original idea, evaluate it and develop your investment thesis
- how to estimate profitability growth and when to finally start investing
- when to follow the line of least resistance and when to short
- that compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world and why it's a good idea to set your investment horizon to infinity

They wrote about the book Becoming an Investor

"Becoming an investor is like a breath of fresh water. At a time when passive buying mania is at its peak and investors of all types are turning to the use of artificial intelligence, a book is coming out that puts humans at the centre of the action. A person who not only thinks, but finds beauty in the mental activity that investing is. Nicholas sees investing as a journey. A way of knowing the world and oneself."

Daniel Gladiš, Vltava Fund

"Good financial books have two characteristics - a big idea and a how-to guide. Books that sell very well are also fun. And bestsellers offer a complete mental transformation. This book meets all four characteristics. “

Jan Šumbera, analyst at Odyssey 44

"The book reads very well and there are nice and illustrative examples. It shows the reader that there are many different paths to success. That's the beauty of investing, but like everything it takes a lot of patience and experience. Of course, the best experience is our own, where we learn from our mistakes or gain positive energy from success. The investor needs both. Investing is not roulette, betting or online betting. “

Zdeněk Chmel, retail investor, service owner of RISK applications

"Becoming an investor entertains not only in content, humility and disarming honesty, but also in form. As if unintentionally, it allows the reader to absorb the fundamental analytical and investment fundamentals in an open way, so easily, that facts and investment concepts suddenly penetrate the reader and do not hit closed doors, because they don't enter like the postulates of investment icons set in stone, but as a guest, whom we want to invite in and get to know more... As if an artist were welcoming a scientist at the door and looking forward to a journey together through the fascinating world of investment."

Petra Skopalová, private banker, painter

"At least a hundred times I've had an 'aha moment' while reading. I think the book is very comprehensive and beautifully written. Honestly, hats off to you for doing this."

Ondřej Klečka, investor
