Before the trees run out of breath

Trees can do without people, but we can't do without trees.

Before the Trees Run Out of Breath is a declaration of love for trees and a call to finally start protecting nature and taking care of its infinite diversity, even if we have not yet managed to fully understand its interconnectedness. And also a way to understand that we are doing this in our own interest.

Even if we brought the planet to the brink of destruction due to climate change, the trees could come back no matter what. Even after periods of drought, devastating fires, extensive logging and human devastation, they will grow back.

In this riveting and critical book, Peter Wohlleben directly follows his bestseller The Secret Life of the Tree (KAZDA 2016). On the one hand, it describes the latest knowledge about the life of trees and their ability to learn and respond to climate change. At the same time, it also does not overlook the limitations of some economic and political entities that often plant trees just for the sake of logging or to create a positive media image, thus exploiting nature. But intensively managed spruce plantations will certainly not prevent the planet from overheating.
