Byzantine pilgrimage
You just can't be lucky all the time. Especially a knight who kills his brother in love in a duel.
Another detective story from the Sinful People of the Kingdom of Bohemia series set in the distant Byzantine Empire. The young nobleman Petr of Michalovice is unjustly accused of murder and the royal prosecutor Oldřich of Chlum is charged with finding the truth.
At a time when Přemysl Otakar I reigns in Bohemia, Emperor Michael Palaiologos in Byzantium, and the Latin and Eastern Churches still hope to restore their lost unity, a young nobleman, Petr of Michalovice, is unjustly accused of murder on his return from a pilgrimage to the Holy Sepulchre. Peter claims that the real killer stole his dagger so that he could frame him for the crime. Since the murdered man is a prominent Byzantine nobleman, the whole case must be thoroughly investigated. And is there anyone more qualified for such a task than the royal prosecutor Oldrich of Chlum? In the entire series of Sinful Men of the Bohemian Kingdom, there has never been a crime that Oldřich of Chlum and his faithful squire Ota could not handle. But will their detective skills hold up in the complex and unfamiliar conditions of Oriental Byzantium?
