Girl in ice
The frozen body of a young woman raises many questions and few answers. The first case for Erika Foster from bestselling author Robert Bryndza.
When a young woman’s body is discovered under a thick sheet of ice in a South London park, Detective Chief Inspector Erika Foster is called in to lead the murder investigation. The victim, a beautiful young socialite from a powerful and wealthy family, appeared to have the perfect life. But as Erika begins to dig deeper, she starts to connect the victim’s murder to the deaths of three prostitutes, all found strangled, their hands bound, and dumped in water around London.
What is the connection between the daughter of an influential lobbyist, who thinks he can interfere with the investigation, and the dead immigrant women? What dark secrets is the girl in the ice hiding?
The closer Erika gets to the truth, the closer the killer gets to Erika. DCI Foster’s last case ended in disaster, with her own husband among the five officers killed. With her career hanging by a thread, she must battle her own personal demons as well as a killer more deadly than any she’s faced before. Will she catch them before they strike again?
Reviews for The Girl in the Ice
"The author has managed to create and maintain suspense and horror right up to the last page, even without hectolitres of blood and gruesome details of the murders. The hidden and unarticulated evil is, in this case, more terrifying than literal descriptions. Nevertheless, the book, which is almost 450 pages long, is a real page-turner, and after reading it, you won't be able to wait for the next instalment. "

"With a refined style, Robert Bryndza throws the reader into the icy waters of London's outskirts, painting an atmosphere of corrosively creeping feelings. The reader's desire to find out who killed Andrea and what is actually happening is as strong and relentless as true English rain. Erika Foster won my warm sympathies, and I was rooting for her from the very beginning, firmly believing that she would solve the case and sort of show up those blockheads who, in their masculine perfection, were throwing obstacles in her way. "In a word – excellent. This book is simply amazing, and I have nothing to fault it for. It will appeal to detective story readers and those reading the detective genre for the first time. It's written in an incredibly readable way, the plot flows quickly, it has no dead spots, and no long-winded descriptions of the environment or characters. "
