Jellyfish
From the author of the bestseller Srpny
When the narrator of the novel arrives at her closest friend's apartment and finds pools of blood on the floor, she does something unexpected. He doesn't report the gruesome discovery and doesn't look for his friend. Instead, he prepares a statement to share with the others when they begin to investigate the mysterious disappearance.
At the same time, he again feels the pain in his abdomen that doctors have long been unable to explain. But this time he's stronger. This time it strangely stings, pulses and invites questions that are more related to both women than they would like.
Jakub Stanjura's second novel is about the most extreme social taboos. However, Jellyfish is not just a provocative story; on the contrary, it reveals everything, just like the water itself: now and then something beautiful and fascinating appears, now and then something repulsive, monstrous, which cannot be named - and which is not at all easy to face.
They wrote about the book:
For me, jellyfish embody misunderstanding. We see them as creatures that hurt. And yet we are also eternally hurting them by disturbing their safety and home. What is dangerous is often misunderstood.
