Stone Monkey
Rhyme and Sachs are on the trail of a brutal human trafficker. The fourth case for Lincoln Rhyme.
Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs face a near-impossible task: they must track down a cargo ship carrying Chinese refugees, as well as the notoriously brutal human trafficker and killer known only as the Ghost. The operation is ultimately a success, but the attempt to capture the Ghost goes catastrophically wrong. Rhyme and Sachs embark on a frantic race to catch him, all while trying to find and save two families who fled the ship and disappeared into the labyrinthine world of New York's Chinese community. The Ghost is hunting them with unprecedented cruelty. While Rhyme, with the help of a quirky Chinese police officer, tries to catch the Ghost, Sachs takes a slightly different approach to the case—she grows close to one of the refugees, a development that could affect not only the entire investigation but also her relationship with Lincoln Rhyme.
