Karmadon's Chessboard
Can Mahan find a loophole and emerge from the contest victorious?
Shaman Mahan, once a convict in the mines, has worked his way up to become one of the most influential figures on his server, Barliona. Even his clan, completely insignificant not so long ago, is now a force to be reckoned with by the entire empire – especially now that they own a brand-new, powerful castle. However, to acquire Altameda, Mahan had to pay a high price, triggering a scenario where the stakes will be higher than his opponents are used to…While the power dynamics in Barliona seek a new equilibrium and the strongest clans prepare for war, Mahan must quickly learn how to lead a clan of thousands. But management is not for a shaman, so Mahan soon takes a detour to a few half-forgotten quests where a bit of intuition and unconventional solutions come in handy. And this time, he won't be alone! Even a maverick shaman can have an apprentice, one at least as unconventional as her master. Wolf packs or the open seas; the shaman's path leads to truly unexpected places. But Mahan must also think of other worlds – especially the other gaming continents, where other similarly gifted jewellers are hot on his heels in the race to be the first in all of Barliona to recreate the legendary Karmadont's Chessboard and use it to unlock the tomb of the Creator himself. Theoretically, Mahan is nowhere near a high enough level to even work with the required materials, but there's no time left for levelling up. Can Mahan find a loophole and emerge from the contest victorious? FANTOM Print publishing isn't slowing down its pace, so readers can now enjoy the fifth book in the successful LitRPG series, The Way of the Shaman, whose game world is almost infinite, constantly bringing new quests and achievements, but also intrigue and power struggles perhaps even more intense than in reality. Barliona is simply a highly addictive game – and you only need to read about it to see why.

Vasily Mahanenko
Vasily comes from Severodvinsk, Russia. He liked to spice up his “boring” job as a project manager in his spare time by playing MMORPGs, which inspired him to write the first instalment of The Way of the Shaman series, which was one of the first works in the new literary genre of LitRPG. Currently, The Way of the Shaman has seven instalments in its original language. In addition, Mahanenko is also working on the Dark Paladin series and the Galactogon cycle. The Way of the Shaman series became a bestseller in Russia almost overnight and was soon translated into English.
