KANOPKA: A Summer That Changes the World

Imagine a summer that smells of blackberries. That time between childhood and adulthood where every afternoon can turn into an epic adventure. Ondřej Bína's KANOPKA is exactly that kind of return. Authentic, moving and playful. It's a return to a world where boyhood treasure hunts, mysterious ruins and stories of Nazis, wolves and spooky legends come to life.  

Miki, Hraboš, Cman and Řípa are spending the last days of their summer holidays in the Ore Mountains, where their own real-life version of “Dungeons & Dragons” is unfolding. What starts as a game gradually becomes something more: an encounter with the past, with mystery, and with a darkness that isn't just in their imagination. Unexpected events, terrifying visions and a strong friendship will test their courage and their bonds.  

Bína masterfully captures the atmosphere of a nineties childhood. A world without mobile phones, but full of free time, dirt, imagination and real experiences. Yet, through the powerful story and subtle irony, he also touches on deeper themes. From separation and the loss of illusions to the necessity of growing up.
