The second instalment in the Raven's Shadow fantasy trilogy
When faced with a threat, even the most hesitant hand must eventually raise a sword. Vaelin Al Sorna is tired of war. He has fought countless battles in the service of the Unified Kingdom and the Faith. His only reward has been the loss of love, the death of friends, and betrayal by his king. After five years in an Alpiran prison, he longs to return home to a quiet life without war and killing. Reva’s only desire, however, is to plunge a knife into Vaelin’s heart to welcome him back to his homeland. He destroyed her family and her life.
Nothing will deter her from her bloody revenge – not even the threat of an invasion by the most powerful enemy the kingdom has ever faced. But once the fires of war ignite, enemies become allies, and what was once true turns to lies. If the kingdom is to be saved, Reva must accept a future she never imagined, and Vaelin must delve back into a past he would rather have buried.
Reviews for Tower Lord
"Simply the best epic, heroic fantasy of the year. "
Fantasy Book Critic
"A series that is a challenger for all established writers to sit up and take notice of, or be left in its shadow. "
Fantasy Book Review
"Anthony Ryan shines even brighter in his second entry — with a plethora of brilliant new characters. "
Fantasy Book Critic
"Where the first book was about one protagonist's journey, this entry is more of an epic fantasy with wider ramifications for the whole fictional empire. You will get answers to a lot of big questions from the first book. "
