My sister is a serial killer
Korede is bitter. No wonder... Her sister Ayoola is beautiful and popular, but quite possibly crazy. She had a boyfriend, but he's dead now. Just like the two before him.
Korede is interrupted from dinner by a frantic phone call. Her sister Ayoola calls her and Korede immediately knows what is expected of her: bleach, rubber gloves, strong nerves and a strong stomach. This is the third guy Ayoola has sent to the eternal hunting grounds - supposedly in self-defense. The third body Korede will have to get rid of. For the sake of all Nigerians, she should go to the police, but she loves her sister and family comes first.
But then Ayoola starts dating a sympathetic doctor from the hospital where Korede works as a nurse. Korede has loved Dr Tade for a long time and he is not going to accept the fact that he will end up with a knife in his back. But to save one would be to sacrifice the other...
Into the love triangle between Korede, Ayola and Tad, the childhood of both sisters is interwoven, marked by the dark memory of their cruel father and his tragic death. Or perhaps not so tragic?
A novel about love, about Lagos and about blood being thicker than water. Most importantly, it's harder to remove from carpet.
The book has been nominated for the 2019 Booker Prize.

My sister is a serial killer is like a dagger that has penetrated between the ribs directly into the left ventricle of the heart - precise, sure and deadly.
– The Financial Times
Dealing with the relationship between two sisters, where the men act as supporting characters who may - or may not - live to see the last chapter, the novel is a response to crime novels in which the horrific deaths of young women very often form the main plot.
– The Guardian
This scorching debut from Oyinkan Braithwaite is razor-sharp, bitingly funny and brilliantly constructed - you won't find a single word out of place.
