"I can't lie and say there are no bad writers. I'm sorry, but there are lots of bad writers." Don't want to be one of them? Take inspiration from the master.
Whatever you think of Stephen King's books, there's one thing everyone must admit: he has mastered his "craft". He is an excellent writer, and this is reflected in his "memoir". The book is half autobiography and half a guide for aspiring writers and, just like King's novels, it's a real page-turner. It will delight not only the master's fans, who will learn about all the obstacles he faced before becoming a world-famous author and the background of some of his works, but it can also provide very valuable advice to aspiring writers.
Stephen King (born 21 September 1947 in Portland) is a contemporary American writer, who also publishes under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. He studied English literature and worked briefly in a launderette, delivered newspapers, and taught. He began his writing career in 1974 and continues it successfully to this day. He is particularly famous as an author of horror, but he also writes thrillers, sci-fi and fantasy. He is also drawn to various experiments, creating theoretical works describing the horror genre. The majority of his works have also been published in Czech translation, largely thanks to the publishing house Pavel Dobrovský - BETA. Many of his books have been successfully adapted for the screen. Films based on King's works include The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, which are now ranked among the top ten best films of all time. Stephen King's books, full of references to American life, popular culture, and especially rock music, successfully connect the fictional world with the real world. Into the atmosphere of ordinary life, which the author masterfully evokes, he gradually inserts supernatural elements, often escalating into a complete inferno. He writes about artists struggling with creative problems and haunted by supernatural forces, about evil in a small town, about violence against women, and about a child's view of the world.
