Paper Houses
What happens when dreams come true and become a gateway to unexpected darkness?
Petr, a theatre actor, accepts the role of a lifetime as Faust, which is conditional on him moving to Ostrava. He, his wife Anna, and their son Vašík settle in a house that is not only the fulfilment of Petr's dream but also a place hiding dark secrets. The house, which once belonged to the musician Richard Roučný, gradually begins to interfere in their lives. Petr delivers stunning performances on stage, but at the same time, he descends into a vortex of temptation and personal demons.
Petr and Anna have a complicated past. They both grew up in a children's home, where they first met. Their bond has endured for years and overcome numerous challenges, but now something stronger is putting it to the test. While Anna battles her own health problems and fears about the strange atmosphere of the house, Petr faces emotional turmoil and temptation from his colleague. The house becomes a mirror of their desires and fears, while unspoken questions about its past remain unanswered. Unusual events, such as the strange deaths of animals in the vicinity of the residence, begin to intensify.
The story emphasises the theme of temptation and its price. Where does the desire for success end and the path to ruin begin? Will Anna and Petr manage to overcome the challenges that the house and their own decisions place in their way?
