Race against time

The eighth book in Lisa Regan's series, titled Závod s časem (Race Against Time), presents Josie Quinn with another challenging case.

Detective Josie Quinn hasn't heard from her sister since Trinity ran away from her house after an argument three weeks ago. So when human bones are found at the remote cabin where Trinity had taken refuge, Josie fears the worst.

While examining the crime scene, Josie notices a clue that Trinity left specifically for her. The investigation delves into her sister's past, her biggest fears and dreams, and gradually helps Josie understand why and how Trinity got into danger. After an unprofessional misstep, she needed to find a big story to save her journalism career, and it seems she was trying to make contact with a dangerous serial killer.

Time is running out to find Trinity. Can Josie's team trust her instincts in a case that is so personal? Can Josie win the race against time for Trinity's life?

Reviews for Závod s časem (Race Against Time)

“Anyone who knows me knows that I really love a strong female lead who isn't afraid to go against the grain. That's exactly what I got in Josie Quinn. I'm eagerly awaiting the next instalment!”

Angela Marsons

“A super read, hats off to the author. Each book is better and more thrilling than the last, and even the first one was brilliant. I'm already looking forward to the next tricky cases with Josie and co.”

Lisa Regan

In addition to the bestselling series featuring Detective Josie Quinn, Lisa Regan is the author of other crime thrillers. She is a member of the writers' groups Sisters in Crime, International Thriller Writers, and Mystery Writers of America.

She lives in Philadelphia with her husband, daughter, and a Boston Terrier named Mr. Phillip.

She gained worldwide attention with the very first book in the Josie Quinn investigator series, Mizející dívky (Vanishing Girls), in which Josie had to deal with a serial killer and kidnapper who had been terrorising the area for years. She followed up on its success with another story, Dívka beze jména (The Girl With No Name), where she had to figure out whether an unknown woman was a witness, a perpetrator, or a future victim. In the third book, Matčin hrob (Her Mother's Grave), Lisa Regan prepared a case for her heroine that forced her to return to her painful past.

In the fourth case, Nečekané přiznání (Her Final Confession), she posed a tricky question to the detectives: how well do they know the people around them and will they stand by their friends, even if all evidence suggests they have killed? The fifth book in the series, titled Pohřbené kosti (The Bones She Buried), once again brings Josie Quinn and her boyfriend and colleague, Noah Fraley, to the centre of the action. The first victim, who unleashes a literal killing spree across the county, is Colette Fraley – Noah's mother. The sixth case, Tichý pláč (Cold-Blooded-Crier), also affects Josie personally. It involves the kidnapping of a seven-year-old girl, and finding her is complicated by the fact that her parents are not telling the detectives the whole truth…
