The world of non-violence

Has a vision of a world without violence ever been needed more than it is right now?

Miki Kashtan introduces readers to her vision of a world where the central focus is meeting the needs of all. As a method of achieving such a world, she offers NVC (Nonviolent Communication).

In this exciting publication, a must-have for all people involved in working for a better world, the author with wartime experience moves from the principles of non-violence, represented by Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and more contemporary figures, to an analysis of social structures, the issues of power, privilege, motivation, and cooperation, and finally to proposals for concrete steps leading to the transformation of consciousness and society. The chapter on children and educating for peace is also beneficial.

What is Nonviolent Communication?
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a method—or perhaps more of an art—of communication aimed at creating understanding between people and finding solutions that work for everyone. The techniques of nonviolent communication were developed by Marshall Rosenberg and further expanded by many other trainers, including Miki Kashtan.

The three pillars of nonviolent communication
In nonviolent communication, three types of skills are developed:

- Connection with oneself: focusing attention on one's own feelings and needs and cultivating inner freedom in dealing with them.

- Sincere self-expression: expressing everything essential in a way that other people will be able to hear and understand.

- Empathy: creating a space for the other person's experience so that they feel heard, understood, and taken seriously.
