A mysterious threat from the past is coming true. The second part of the Freyja & Huldar series
A time capsule with the schoolchildren's ideas about the future is picked up in the school playground after ten years. One of the messages carries a hateful prediction of the death of several people. But it only gives their initials. Is it really necessary to take the message of a 13-year-old teenager seriously?
Detective Huldar suspects that he was put in charge of investigating a trivial school case just to keep him away from real police work. His last case stripped him of his professional credibility and his position as head of the department. Nevertheless, she takes the task seriously and turns to child psychologist Freyja to investigate what kind of child could have written the threatening letter. Plus, he'd like to make peace with Freya. But it's still not the right time, especially when they both suddenly find themselves in the middle of another complicated case. A connection emerges between the letter and a series of recent events: hands are found cut off in the hot tub in the garden of the family home and the owner is brutally murdered shortly afterwards. The initials of his name are on the list of a letter from the past. Is it just a coincidence?
When another corpse and more severed body parts are discovered, Huldar and Freyja embark on a frantic race against time to uncover the writer, the victim and the killer before more murders occur. It seems the time of reckoning has come...
