Pavel Nikolayevich Kornev was born in 1978 in Chelyabinsk, Russia, and graduated from university with a degree in economics. He made his breakthrough as a writer in 2005 with the novel Led (Ice), which is the first part of the five-book Borderlands series, and in 2006 he received the Sword Without a Name award from the Alfa-Kniga publishing house. This science fantasy series became his most popular work and has also been published in Polish, for example. In addition to this, he has also written the Exorcist cycle, the city of Autumn, and several standalone novels and short stories. He mainly writes action prose: science fantasy or fantasy with detective, steampunk or post-apocalyptic elements. He is currently a full-time writer.
He graduated from the Music and Drama Department of the Prague Conservatory and, during his studies, began guest-starring in several theatres in Prague, most often at the Vinohrady Theatre. In 2014, he joined the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, where, in addition to his acting roles, he composes incidental music for productions. He is a co-founder of the film agency FastFilms s.r.o., where he works as a creative and director.
