The Land of Doom
Raw postapo from the author of the bestselling novel They Call Me Lars.
When Keisuke Endo brutally murders sixteen of his business partners in an unexpected outbreak of violence in one of Tokyo's tallest skyscrapers, no one knows about the virus yet. The media will only label him as patient zero in hindsight. And by then it's too late for everyone. The CCR pandemic will soon spread across the planet - and plunge it into chaos. How can you defend yourself against something that triggers unpredictable reactions in your brain, even against those closest to you? In the Czech Republic, the president, nicknamed the General, is becoming a dictator who is trying to keep the remnants of the state in a functional state. Even at the cost of other lives.
An undisclosed number of people find themselves in a terrifying prison without knowing why or if they will ever be free again. Among them is a seemingly ordinary young man who quickly learns that behind bars, only the law of the strongest applies. If he wants to survive in the new world, he must forget everything he has clung to. Including what makes a person human.
A brutal post-apocalypse that brings to mind the best of McCarthy's The Road and Matheson's I, Legend.
Daniel Gris
He was fattened by the Vltava River, on the banks of which he was conceived during one Saturday and Sunday. At the age of three, his desperate parents sold him to nomadic gypsies, who returned him after only four days as completely unmanageable. Several official and semi-legal institutions were then involved in his upbringing. In some of them he was taught the law, in the rest he was taught how to circumvent the law. Daniel Gris has taken several wives of different nationalities and shapes, and is the presumed father of an as yet undetermined number of offspring. He likes nice cars and fast women, absinthe and the atmosphere of smoky bars. In his life he changed nine trades, and since he was resigned to poverty, he finally decided to become a writer.
