The Magicians
In a city fueled by industrialized magic, a war breaks out that changes reality...
Sancie Grad is a thief, and a damn good one. Breaking into a high-security warehouse on the Tevanne docks is a piece of cake for her. What Sancie doesn't know is that the artifact she is about to steal holds unimaginable power. It could even revolutionise a magical technique called scribing - a method that alters the properties of ordinary objects using coded inscriptions.
The rival corporations that control this magic have already turned Tevanne into a huge, ruthless money machine. But if they get their hands on the stolen artifact, they will rewrite the world itself to serve their purposes. The corporations are now at Sancia's throat. And there's no force in the city of Tevanne that can stop them.
If Sancia is to survive - and if it is to stop the murderous transformation of the world, which is about to happen -, must gather unlikely allies, to harness the power of the artifact and undergo your own transformation, that turns it into something, that she never dreamed of.

Brandon Sanderson, author of the fantasy series Mistborn
A sprawling, engrossing novel that is as much cyberpunk as it is fantasy. Bennett tells a fantastic story with amazing characters, but what makes the book special is his take on magic.
The Verge
Inventive, immersive and exciting. The Magicians is a fascinating look at how even the best intentions can be misused.
