The rose itself

It was only in far-off Japan that the French rose blossomed into a flower...

In the life of Rose, a Parisian botanist, her father was missing for so long that she pushed him, and indeed all other men, out of her heart. But when she receives news that this wealthy Japanese contemporary art dealer has died and she is to come to Kyoto to hear his last will, she doesn't hesitate long and gets on a plane. However, a meeting with members of her father's household, led by his Belgian personal secretary Paul, and an introduction to the former capital of Japan, full of ancient temples and magical gardens, turns the protagonist's life upside down. On the other side of the world, not only does he finally understand who he really is and why he can't be anyone else, but he even dares to think about love for the first time...

The author of the international bestseller With the Elegance of a Hedgehog was inspired to write her latest prose novel by a two-year stay in Japan.
