Unwelcome guest

Death comes without warning.

Several guests arrive at a remote country hotel for a winter weekend: Gwen and her friend Riley, couples Ian and Lauren, Matthew and Dana, Beverly and Henry, famed defense attorney David, and old-world writer Candice. Once they arrive, a snowstorm hits, cutting off the hotel's electricity and all contact with the outside world. And on the very first night, a tragic accident occurs: one of the visitors falls down the stairs and kills himself. But was it an unintentional fall?

The atmosphere grows thicker, mobile phone batteries run down and the distrust among the guests turns into paranoia - another death will not be long in coming, and this time it is undoubtedly murder. Inspired by classic mystery novels, creeping suspense and a horror climax - Shari Lapena doesn't spare the reader a shocking revelation this time either, as unexpected as the final twists in her previous psychothrillers The Husbands Next Door and Someone Strange in the House.
