Watches from Asher
What's on the minds of today's 30-somethings? Novel Hodinky od Asher by Czech author Zuzana Dostálová.
What's on the minds of today's 30-somethings? Too much stress, feeling lonely, or just not being able to afford a Hublot watch? Karl and Helena are brought together by chance one summer afternoon. Although they go their separate ways, fate brings them back together. He longs for family, background and meaningful work. They get the courage and decide to take a risk. He'll start a family business. But do they have any idea what obstacles they will have to face in the course of their business? How difficult is it to deal with the pitfalls of bureaucracy and laws these days?
Exhausted but happy, they open the coveted shop. A satisfied customer is their greatest reward. And sometimes when things don't go well, there's still the belief that it will get better. Even old Asher, a Jewish watchmaker from Letná, knew it, and without his ancient watch Karel and Helena would have lost hope.
