One day, the witch Bordelina moves into the peaceful forest of Bambručák and all hell breaks loose! This little rascal doesn't like anything in the forest. But since she's not a witch for nothing, she soon conjures up everything to her liking. Neither the animals nor the children know how to deal with Bordelina, she does one mischief after another. He clutters the whole forest with colourful papers, replaces the soft moss in the animals' beds with stinging nettles, and even flies at night on his magic umbrella to make a mess in the children's rooms. And what about when her brother, the wizard Puchonosodor, comes to visit her! But he who digs a hole for others often digs it himself...

The Witch's Whorehouse is not just any ordinary book. When I picked it up and started reading it to my son, I found myself literally in a fairy tale. I got carried away into the realm of fantasy and found myself several times not noticing anything around me, just the story itself (and yes, I admit, I read even when my son was asleep and of course came back the next night. The font is larger, so I believe the tale will read well to beginning readers.

I really enjoyed reading this fairy tale together with my children. Marie Koželuhová's personal and cheerful illustrations will put a smile on your face, as they did mine. Even though Sandra Dražilová Zlámalová is an emerging author, I don't think it was noticeable at all. Her fairy tale story was full of mischief, but it was also a story of incredible courage and determination that Bordelina found in herself to make the choices she did.

Sandra Dražilová Zlámalová introduced herself to children's readers in 2017, when her fairytale first novel Kulíškovy neposedné příhody was published. She has a degree in teaching for both secondary and primary schools, which she draws on in her work. Previously, she also worked as a translator and interpreter from German.
