Eagle's prey
The fifth volume of the historical novel series by Simon Scarrow
More than a year has passed since the Roman army landed on British shores. But the barbarian warlord Caratacus keeps making their lives miserable. But the mighty Emperor Claudius really needs a victory in Britain to finally consolidate his rule. So the time had come for the Romans to overcome their enemies for good. On the eve of the battle, centurions Cato and Macro hope that their stay on the island is coming to an end. Will he finally deliver a decisive blow to Caratacus? Or will things not go as planned on the battlefield?
Simon Scarrow
He was born in Nigeria but travelled with his parents to many foreign countries before landing in Britain. He studied history there and went on to teach at City College Norwich. He specialised in Roman history and enjoyed organising tours for his students to various Roman monuments and museums. Eventually he decided to write the kind of books he would like to read himself. And so a series of novels were written during the Roman invasion of Britain. He eventually gave up his teaching career and now makes his living as a full-time writer.
