Steamed

A new invention arrives in Ankh-Morpork.

A huge, clanking metal monster that has mastered the power of all four basic elements: earth, air, fire, and water. Steam begins to rise over Discworld, created by the locomotive of one Dick Simnel, a man in a flat cap, armed with a slide rule. Mr Simnel has an interesting arrangement with sines and cosines, and thanks to them, he controls Iron Girder – the first Discworld locomotive.

Moist von Lipwig is not a man who loves hard work. In his roles as Postmaster General, Master of the Royal Mint, and Chairman of the Royal Ankh-Morpork Bank, however, his work ethic is vitally important; though it primarily involves words, which fortunately are not heavy and do not need oiling every few minutes. Moist is a lover of life, and so he cannot refuse the new job offered to him by the Patrician. Moist will have to deal with whole litres of axle grease, with goblins, with a corpulent businessman who is said to throw employees down the stairs, with a host of furious orthodox dwarfs – the Grags – and many other adversities if he doesn't want everything to go off the rails.
