Brotherhood of the Intrepid

From Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest

A fascinating account of the history of the famed Company E, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, United States Army. The sought-after American biographer recounts in dramatic detail her arduous journey to victory, which began in 1942 with grueling training at Camp Toccoa and led through the first D-Day combat action in Normandy, through battles in France, the Netherlands, the Ardennes, and the Ruhr, to the capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria.

Although the men of this extraordinary unit came from a variety of backgrounds, the war cemented them in an inseparable brotherhood that was sealed by hardship in dangerous combat and the blood of fallen comrades. They became true heroes because "the desire to be better than others" took over.

The book was made into a highly successful television series produced by Spielberg and Hanks.
