Sudetenland
The Velvet Revolution in a world where there was no expulsion of Germans.
A former Gestapo inspector is murdered in Bruntál and his death opens up old wrongs and ancient secrets. A captivating story from an alternate reality written by Leoš Kyša, known under the pseudonym František Kotleta. Take a trip to Czechoslovakia in the early 1990s, which is different from what you remember.
The first free elections in Czechoslovakia since the fall of the communist regime are approaching and things are boiling over in the border region. More than a million Germans who remained in the Czech-Polish border area after the halted expulsion are claiming their political rights. In Prague they fear the return of communism and in Bratislava they are beginning to dream of strong autonomy. And don't forget, there's going to be a murder.
What would the story of Czechoslovakia after the Velvet Revolution have looked like if the complete removal of the Sudeten Germans had not taken place? In this book you will find a unique view of a history that may not have happened, but nevertheless comes alive before you. The story is inspired by real places and fates
Leoš Kyša (* 1979) In addition to writing under the pseudonym František Kotleta, he also works as a university teacher and film scriptwriter. He has made a name for himself in fiction as a skilled short story writer, and has concentrated his best work in the collection War Makers (2020). In his editorial work, he has collaborated with Boris Hokr on three anthologies, In the Shadow of Empire (2017), In the Shadow of the Apocalypse (2018) and In the Shadow of Magic (2019). He has independently compiled the anthology L3G3NDY (2020), which brings an original view of old Czech myths and legends by a new generation of authors.
