The Synology DS218j, a smart 8TB network storage solution
This NAS sits happily in a home or office environment where you can easily use the plethora of features available. It can store data from all types of devices, back up your documents, play media files via DLNA, and provides you with a personal cloud to share files between your friends and family. The NAS' features are really diverse. The Synology DS218j NAS drive is a dedicated server system that can support many tasks and can be complemented by a variety of applications.
Sync to any device
The Synology smart NAS is equipped with a special set of Cloud Station Suite tools. It's a powerful tool to easily synchronise important files to multiple devices at the same time. Everything is enhanced by its automatic file versioning feature, two-step authentication and detailed monitoring.
Wide support for additional packages
As a result of the extensive range of additional software packages available at the Synology Centre, you get more than just a regular NAS. Turn your Synology DS218j into a personal VPN server, a professional RADIUS authentication server, an always-available download centre, or a multimedia library that can be expanded with other handy features for home and business use.
QuickConnect
Get easy access to your files over the Internet without the need to set up port forwarding rules, DDNS, or other complicated network settings. QuickConnect lets you connect to the NAS securely from any device connected to the Internet.
The package includes 2 × WD RED 4TB drives
The Synology DS218j supports two 2.5" or 3.5" hard drives. Both positions are fitted with WD RED 4TB drives. Other expansion ports that are supported include two USB 3.0 ports and, of course, an RJ-45 1GbE LAN port.
The NAS as a File Server
The Synology DS218j contains a fast and secure tool called DS File for sharing and managing your files. You can upload your data by simply dragging them onto your Mac or PC. Advanced filters make it easier to find your documents, photos or videos. The NAS can also be used as a centralised backup location. Whenever a file is edited, the changes are automatically backed up by the Cloud Station Backup. It synchronises files between the DiskStation and multiple platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile as well as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, hubiC, and Baidu Cloud.
