A Thousand-Year-Old Demon

1st September 2025, Czech Republic, capital city Liberec
In a valley between two mountain ridges lies a city bathed in a red glow. Dragons circle above it, harpies perch in its parks, and hydras, griffins, and basilisks hunt in its streets. The lives of its people are governed by a set of four blessings and curses that have turned Czechia into the heart of the world.
The Blessing of Long Life and Health guarantees everyone a life free of disease and in full strength, the Blessing of Prosperity gives a new meaning to the saying about golden Czech hands, the Curse of the Dishonest brings punishment to anyone who commits a crime, and the Protective Curse ensures the country's safety from external attack. Czechia has prevailed in the Second Czech War. Jan Rener, a young and progressive mage, takes power. He expands the state's territory, establishes new international relations, and ends the magical terror inflicted upon the population. He is popular and successful. It seems that under his rule, the country is entering a golden age.
And yet, he must face an unexpected attack when a murder occurs right in the capital city. With the help of his brother Nathaniel, he tries to find the culprit and restore the Curse of the Dishonest, while enemies who sense his weakness close in on Czechia from all sides.
The thousand-year-old demon is coming.
