A newly formed mobile investigative unit, established by FBI agent Matt Costa to operate in remote areas without sufficient law enforcement coverage, is assigned to the case. But although the special team, reinforced by Kara, is doing its best, the investigation is not going smoothly. They have no witnesses, they have no evidence, but most of all, they have no time. Not only is the next expected murder less than three days away, but if Kara and Matt fail to stop the Triple Killer, in another three it will be the cop's turn - quite possibly one of them.
