This is the latest generation of AMD processors delivering top performance and optimised processing. The integration of multiple cores into a single chip is the best solution for SMP applications as it allows the use of multiple physical cores as a result of the number of processors themselves. There is also support a number of different instruction sets, mostly focused on multimedia.
Another addition to the family is the APU (Accelerated Processing Unit). It is based on an innovative combination of multiprocessor architecture cores, graphics core with support for Microsoft DirectX 11, a DDR3 memory controller, and a North Bridge with a PCI Express 2.0 interface on a single chip. This architecture provides a significantly lower power consumption than separate components and is the perfect solution for users looking for a cheap, medium range computer.
The processor has support for fast DDR3 memory and is very convenient because the integrated graphics core has its own memory and must, therefore, rely on the memory allocation system. IGPU memory allocation takes precedence over the CPU, so it comes with DDR3 1866MHz which is theoretically able to achieve a throughput of up to 30GB/sec. A computer equipped with this processor will be a universal machine for multimedia use, occasional gaming, internet surfing and general office work. It can be recommended as the baseline for the creation of an HTPC home theatre. The processor is only compatible with motherboards with the new FM2 socket.
