By moving your finger around its edge, you can quickly browse through the different options and then confirm your desired setting. This keeps the controls clear while maintaining the clean look of the oven's front panel.
TFT Touch Display Pro for a perfect overview
The large, high-resolution 6.8" TFT touchscreen display works with the digital control ring to make all the oven's options clear. Information, programmes and settings are displayed clearly with text instructions. This means you can quickly find and adjust individual functions directly on the display.
Steam Function Plus – steam up to 120°C
The Steam Function Plus lets you steam food at temperatures up to 120°C. For certain foods, the higher steam temperature can shorten the cooking time while helping to preserve vitamins and other nutrients. For example, green beans or carrots can be ready up to 50% faster than with conventional steaming.
Automatic switch-off at the right moment
When using the supported assistance programmes, you don't have to constantly check if your food is ready. The oven can automatically end the process when cooking is complete and will notify you with a sound or via the Home Connect app. This helps prevent unnecessary overcooking after the desired result has been achieved.
PerfectBake Plus for more precise baking
The PerfectBake Plus baking sensor monitors the humidity inside the BOSCH HSG738DB2 Serie 8 oven and uses it to manage the cooking process. After you select a dish, it continuously evaluates its progress and displays the estimated remaining time until it's ready. The function is useful for baking muffins and other pastries, and requires a connection to Home Connect for full functionality.
PerfectRoast Plus monitors the core temperature of your food
The PerfectRoast Plus temperature probe uses three measuring points for more precise control of the internal temperature of meat, fish or poultry. Once the food reaches the set temperature, the oven knows it's ready and can also estimate the remaining time. What's more, the temperature probe assistant helps you choose the right settings via Home Connect.
The Cooking Assistant helps you choose the right settings
If you're not sure which heating mode is right for a particular dish, you can use the Cooking Assistant in the Home Connect app. After you enter the dish you're preparing, it suggests the appropriate setting or programme, and you can then send your choice directly to the oven.
Added Steam for a crispy outside and juicy inside
The Added Steam function adds a targeted amount of steam during cooking. This helps to create a crispier surface while keeping the inside of the food moist and juicy. You can use it, for example, when baking bread, other baked dishes, or when reheating food.
Recipes from around the world in Home Connect
The Home Connect app gives you access to a database of recipes, including recommended oven settings. Once you've selected a recipe, you can send the required cooking parameters directly to the appliance and save your favourite recipes for next time. This means you don't have to manually set the temperature or other values every time.
Perfect Steam automatically regulates the amount of steam
Perfect Steam uses a sensor that continuously monitors the conditions inside the oven, evaluates the humidity and adjusts the amount of steam as needed. For steam programmes, the oven automatically maintains the appropriate steam level without you needing to make manual adjustments during cooking. This function is useful, for example, when baking bread or chicken, where it helps to combine a crispy surface with a juicy centre.
Steam Boost adds steam on demand
If you need an extra burst of steam during baking, you can activate Steam Boost. Once the steam system has heated up, you can add individual bursts of steam as needed. This is particularly useful when making homemade bread, where the steam helps to create a crispy crust and a fluffy interior.
Hotair Gentle for more economical cooking
The Hotair Gentle mode is designed for gentle cooking on a single level. The fan distributes heat evenly throughout the oven, and for many dishes, no preheating is necessary. It is suitable for small baked goods, cakes in tins or desserts on a baking tray.
Air Fry for crispy results with less oil
The Air Fry function lets you prepare things like homemade potato or vegetable crisps with a small amount of oil. The intense hot air helps to create a crispy surface without traditional deep-frying. You can use the Air Fry baking tray, which is also suitable for preparing grilled food.
Favourite settings always at your fingertips
You can save frequently used settings to your Favourites and quickly recall them the next time you cook. Your saved options are accessible both directly on the BOSCH HSG738DB2 Serie 8 oven and through the Home Connect app. This function eliminates the need to re-enter the same parameters repeatedly.
Assist Plus – select the dish and the oven suggests the settings
Assist Plus makes cooking easier when you know exactly what you want to cook but aren't sure about the right settings. After you enter the name of the dish on the TFT Touch Display Pro, the oven recommends the appropriate heating mode, temperature and cooking time. You can still adjust the suggested values, and the appliance will notify you when it's finished. Supported programmes can also end automatically.
Home Connect for connected cooking
The Home Connect feature lets you control and monitor the BOSCH HSG738DB2 Serie 8 oven via a mobile app. You can remotely change available settings, manage your favourites, use recipes, and receive a notification when the programme is finished. Supported functions can also be controlled via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, and software updates help keep the appliance's smart features up to date.
4D Hotair for even baking
4D Hotair technology ensures fast and even heat distribution throughout the oven. You can place your baking tray or rack on any level, and when making things like biscuits or small pastries, you can use up to four levels at the same time. The heat is distributed evenly from the top to the bottom of the oven, so you can achieve consistent results even with larger quantities of food.
Clip Rail – telescopic runners where you need them
The fully extendable Clip Rail telescopic runner is not fixed to just one oven level. You can move it to a different level as needed, making it easy to slide out the baking tray or rack right where you are cooking. The full extension makes handling cookware safer and more convenient.

Can a built-in oven combined with a microwave replace a standalone microwave?
Yes, it can fully replace it. A combination appliance handles heating and defrosting just as well as a regular microwave, while also saving kitchen space. It's ideal for quick meal prep — combining hot air and microwaves, for instance, shortens cooking time.
What is the difference between a standard, steam, added steam, and combi steam oven?
An added steam oven is a classic oven that releases pulses of steam during baking, keeping food juicy inside and crispy outside. A combi steam oven has a full steam generator, letting you cook with pure steam or combine steam with hot air. The term "steam oven" is often used for appliances that cook only with steam and have no conventional heating element.
Dimensions of the oven interior/trays?
A standard oven (60 cm high) has an interior volume of roughly 60–75 liters, with trays around 46 × 37 cm. Compact ovens (45 cm high) have a smaller volume, about 45–50 liters, and correspondingly narrower trays.
Why should I want a steam oven?
Cooking with steam is healthier, since it preserves vitamins and minerals, keeps food's color and flavor intact, and leaves meat especially juicy. It's also great for reheating leftovers, which end up tasting fresh again.
What is the difference between a compact and a standard oven?
The main difference is height — standard ovens are 60 cm, compact ones 45 cm. Compact models suit smaller kitchens well or work nicely as a second oven in a setup, for example mounted above a standard oven.
What kind of connection does the oven have?
Most modern standalone ovens plug into a regular 230V outlet with a standard plug. More powerful models, or combined sets with a hob, may need a 400V (three-phase) connection installed by a professional.
Does the oven have any cleaning program?
Yes, most ovens offer at least one of the following: pyrolysis (burning residue to ash at around 500°C), catalysis (special liners that absorb fat), or hydrolysis/AquaClean (steam cleaning using water poured into a tray).
What is EcoClean?
It's a special surface coating, often ceramic, that absorbs and breaks down fats during baking. It's very durable and, with proper use, lasts the entire lifetime of the oven.
What is ActiveClean/pyrolysis?
It's the most thorough form of self-cleaning. The oven locks itself and heats up to an extreme temperature, turning all residue to ash. Once it's cooled down, the interior just needs a wipe with a damp cloth.
What is a pull-out system?
This refers to telescopic rails — sliding guides that let you pull a tray safely out of the oven without having to hold it. This greatly reduces the risk of the tray tipping over or getting burned.
I don't see any steam inside the steam oven.
That's completely normal. At high temperatures, steam is invisible since it's a colorless gas. It only becomes visible as mist once it cools down, for example when the door is opened.
Why is air blowing between the door and the control panel?
That's the cooling fan at work. Its job is to cool the electronics and the space between the door's glass panes, keeping the control panel from overheating and protecting nearby furniture from heat damage.
