Klasická pevná padesátka vhodná pro Full-frame i APS-C digitální zrcadlovky. Varianta se zvýšenou světelností f/1,4 určená spíše náročnějším uživatelům a profesionálům, kteří ji dokáží využít. Skvělé optické vlastnosti po všech stránkách, velmi příjemný a jemný bokeh. I přes vysokou světelnost je objektiv ještě pořád poměrně malý a lehký. Vybaven rychlým ultrazvukovým motorem ostření USM.
Z nedostatků snad jen, že v ceně není zahrnuta sluneční clona a také fakt, že pokud si nejste jisti, že opravdu využijete světelnost f/1,4 pak má lepší poměr cena/výkon stejný objektiv, jen s nepatrně nižší světelností f/1,8 který je ale výrazně levnější.

The lenses have a high refractive index and innovative Gaussian optics eliminate astigmatism. Get sharp photos even when the shutter speed and blurred lens. Focusing the lens is fast and quiet thanks to USM drive. This actuator uses a piezoelectric principle and is formed by two overlapping rings, one of which acts as a stator and the other (driving the focussing mechanism) as the rotor.
