The EF-S series lens is Canon's first 24mm pancake lens. Its compact and lightweight design makes it ideal for documenting urban architecture or shooting at social events. Its advanced optical design ensures excellent image quality. High aperture (f/2.8) allows handheld shooting even in low light with solid results. Stepper motor focusing provides smooth and silent autofocusing when capturing photos and movies. If you're a more technically savvy photographer, there's a switch on the side of the lens for selecting manual focus.
Key Features of the Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM
- Lens for Canon SLR cameras with APS-C sensor size and EF-S mount
- Suitable for shooting close-ups of buildings, portraits or macro shots
- Automatic focusing thanks to silent motor (manual focusing also possible)
- Focal length 24 mm
- Minimum focusing distance 16 cm
- Flat design with compact dimensions
- Thread for filters 52 mm, autofocus
Sharp details, portraits and macro shots with blurred backgrounds
The 24mm focal length is not primarily intended for a specific type of photography. However, in combination with plenty of light and a minimum f/5.6 aperture, you'll get sharp details of buildings, very decent portraits or macro shots with blurred backgrounds. You will need to shoot from a minimum distance of 16 cm to get a good focus.
Low aperture for low-light shooting
The high f/2.8 aperture, which lets in plenty of light, allows you to take low-light shots without the need for a flash. It's also ideal for creating effects with shallow depth of field, as it allows you to isolate your subject against a finely blurred background.
Advanced optical design
Enjoy stunning sharpness across the entire image thanks to high resistance to overexposure and loss of colour fringing. Reach small objects up to 16cm away for close-up views of the world. When used with compatible EOS camera bodies.
