The DJI Mic Mini 2S lavalier microphone uses a condenser (electret) principle and offers omnidirectional pickup to capture sound from all directions. Wireless connectivity is provided by Bluetooth technology on the transmitter, while the receiver uses USB-C and 3.5mm TRS connectors. This digital transmission system works with two channels and helps with recording in the field. The transmitter is powered by a rechargeable battery for seamless content creation. Its compact design makes it easy to discreetly attach to clothing.
Omnidirectional pickup captures sound evenly from all directions, making it easy to record voice without precise aiming. The condenser electret system operates in a frequency range of 20Hz to 20,000Hz. The sensitivity reaches -30dB for precise detail recording. The sound retains its natural texture and balance. The system is suitable for the spoken word and demanding acoustic conditions.
The system uses two-stage noise cancellation with AI support, which accurately separates the human voice from surrounding noise. The Strong mode suppresses intense sounds in busy environments, while the Basic mode removes the subtle hum of fans indoors. The wind muff effectively reduces wind noise during outdoor filming. This keeps the voice intelligible even in adverse weather. The recording remains clear without unwanted distortion.
The receiver features a USB-C interface and a 3.5mm TRS analogue output for wide compatibility. A wireless connection to the transmitter is provided by digital technology that maintains a stable transmission. The connectors are used to connect to cameras and phones without complicated setup. The system supports direct connection to selected Osmo devices. Users can also use a wireless connection via Bluetooth.
The digital transmission technology works reliably even in places with high levels of interference. With a compatible receiver, the signal range is up to 400 metres with a direct line of sight. When connected to a mobile receiver, the distance is up to 300 metres. Automatic reconnection speeds up preparation for work after turning the device on. The transmitter remembers paired devices for quick switching.
The transmitter uses a rechargeable battery that provides power for up to 11 hours of operation. The receiver can run for up to 10 hours on a single charge. The charging case extends the total battery life to up to 40 hours of operation. Fast charging provides an hour of operation after just five minutes of charging. The system is thus ready for a full day's work in the field.
The transmitter includes 14.5GB of internal memory, which can hold up to 28 hours of recording. This space serves as a reliable backup in case of wireless signal dropout. Internal recording works in 32-bit float format with a high dynamic range. The converter supports 48kHz sampling at a 24-bit depth. Files can be transferred to a computer at speeds of up to 34MB/s.
On the transmitter body, there is a power button and a button for pairing with the receiver. An LED recording status indicator and a system indicator provide an immediate visual check. The noise cancellation mode switch helps you react quickly to changes in the surrounding environment. Parameters can be adjusted in the DJI Mimo mobile app. The controls are designed for quick operation without unnecessary delays.
The transmitter weighs approximately 12g, so it won't weigh down your clothing during long periods of use. It attaches using a rotating magnetic clip that allows you to point the microphone in any direction. You can customise the device's appearance with coloured covers to suit your personal taste. The design is suitable for everyday carrying.
The adaptive gain control function helps maintain a balanced volume in various situations. Clipping Control mode protects the recording from being overdriven if the sound source's volume suddenly increases. Loudness Balance mode automatically evens out the voice level during conversations. This results in a stable audio output that doesn't require complex adjustments. This technology simplifies audio processing in post-production.
Users have three preset sound modes available, named Regular, Rich, and Bright. The system supports recording in Mono, Stereo, and Quadraphonic modes for different types of projects. When using the four-channel output, you get separate tracks for each sound source. A safety track in the app creates a backup with the volume reduced by 6dB. This helps prevent unwanted signal distortion.
Microphone PrincipleA dynamic microphone is suitable for open performances, live broadcasts, music production, etc. It uses a magnet and a moving coil to capture sound.
A condenser microphone is mainly used for studio purposes. It has higher sensitivity and lower noise. It requires its own power supply.
Frequency RangeThe frequency range indicates the range of frequency values that the microphone records. The wider the range, the more sounds it can capture.
Low frequencies (e.g., 20–200Hz): Bass, the deepest tones of instruments (double bass, kick drum) and male voices.
Mid frequencies (e.g., 200–3000Hz): The body of instruments, the fundamental of the voice where the ear is most sensitive, important for speech intelligibility.
High frequencies (e.g., 3000–14000Hz): Treble, details, sibilance, and the 'sheen' of the sound.
'Air' band (above 14000Hz): Adds a sense of expensive, super-high-quality sound and space to recordings.
SensitivityMicrophone sensitivity is the ratio of output voltage to acoustic pressure. It expresses how loud a signal the microphone produces at a given acoustic pressure; higher sensitivity means a stronger voltage and is suitable for quiet studios, while lower sensitivity is better for noisy environments as it reduces unnecessary amplification of ambient noise.
