The next generation of the popular PlayStation 5 is finally here. And with it comes a revolution that gives gamers around the world a whole new experience. Sony's latest console uses mainly AMD-designed hardware, including its 8-core Zen 2 processor and RDNA 2 graphics chip with ray tracing support to deliver 4K resolution at 120fps.

We have come to expect improved graphics with every new gaming console generation, and the PlayStation 5 doesn't disappoint. An ultra-high-speed SSD comes with 835GB of storage and delivers near-instant load times. What's more, the powerful new PCIe 4.0 interface brings decompressed data transfer speeds of up to 5.5GB/sec and a staggering 9GB/sec for uncompressed data. In practice, this means that your games launch almost instantly, and you can switch between several active games in a flash.
PlayStation 5 also scores plenty of points for its immersive Tempest 3D AudioTech soundscapes that help your surroundings come alive in supported games. A key benefit is that you don't need expensive headphones or multiple speakers to enjoy it fully—a decent smart TV is enough.
PlayStation 5 also comes with a redesigned DualSense controller. A major new feature is haptic feedback that lets you feel the results of your in-game actions. For example, in racing games, you will feel true-to-life resistance when you drive over a bump or through a muddy puddle. Sony's designers have also changed the angle of the adaptive triggers and grip areas to give you a controller that sends the old PS4 one to the back of the cupboard. Walk into an entire world of new possibilities with PlayStation 5!
More than 20 new PlayStation 5 games have already been announced, including highly anticipated titles Horizon Forbidden West, God of War: Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy XVI.
Don't worry, there's not going to be a repeat of the PlayStation 4 launch fiasco. The new PlayStation 5 supports around 100 of the best games from the older generation console, with the number set to increase over time. Of course, you can also watch movies from Blu-ray discs and play in virtual reality with PlayStation VR.
Sony Corporation is a Japanese company founded in 1946. Its headquarters is located in Tokyo. Its beginnings were humble. The first product sold under the Sony brand was a transistor radio. It was those radios that played a pivotal role in the company's expansion in the 1960s and the world quickly began to associate Sony products with a reliably stellar price-performance ratio.
In the 1970s, Sony was severely affected by the global economic crisis. Many analysts considered the company effectively defunct and could see no future for it. However, they underestimated the famous Japanese perseverance and courage. The crisis was not a disaster for Sony; on the contrary, it served as a launching pad to even greater heights. The company recovered and soon changed the media landscape with the development of the CD and later the DVD. In the early 1990s, Sony achieved another major success with the introduction of the PlayStation gaming console. It is the gaming consoles that best represent the intersection of the three key areas in which the company operates today – electronics, video games, and the entertainment industry.
