Despite the small size of the device, the manufacturer has managed to fit a 2.3" touch-sensitive colour display on the front side, which you can easily control with wet hands as well as while wearing gloves. It features a waterproof design with IPX7 protection. The built-in battery promises up to 15 hrs of battery life when using GPS. In addition to GPS/GLONASS, the Garmin Edge 820 also features a barometric altimeter for precise altitude, ascent, and descent measurements. Garmin will also provide you with cycling maps of the whole Europe, which will be saved to a 16GB storage.

Possibility of using a number of additional gadgets

The Garmin cycle computer has the ANT+ wireless technology to connect to a heartbeat, speed and cadence sensor. The ANT+ also enables the connection of a wattmeter, such as the Garmin Vector 2, a bicycle radar (Varia Radar) or a head-up display (Varia Vision). How you want to use this device is entirely up to you. The Garmin Edge 820 can, of course, be used as it is, without a connection to your mobile phone.

With this device, you will have a perfect control over your condition. It measures all important performance values, such as the VO2Max or the FTP (functional threshold power). If you use a wattmeter, you can analyse the left and the right leg balancing values as well as evaluate your riding performance while standing and while sitting on the saddle. 

GroupTrack

The Garmin Edge 820 is compatible with the STRAVA segments, it can upload them in its memory and then highlight them on the track, show the comparison of your time with the leading times and add the achieved result into the STRAVA ranking.
