The GIGABYTE X870E AORUS PRO X3D ICE motherboard serves as the main hardware foundation for building a PC with AMD Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 series processors. This ATX format board with an AM5 socket and AMD X870E chipset supports dual-channel DDR5 RAM with a total capacity of up to 256GB. Power system
A stable processor requires a stable power supply, even under heavy load. The digital dual VRM system with an 18+2+2 phase configuration delivers power with high precision. The 110A VCORE phases supply power for multi-core AMD Ryzen processors. The board uses a server-certified 8-layer PCB, which contributes to high signal integrity and reduces electromagnetic interference throughout the system.
Cooling and heat dissipation
Operating at low temperatures extends the lifespan of all components. The metal VRM Thermal Armor Advanced passive heatsinks use direct contact with a heatpipe and thermal pads with a conductivity of 12W/mK. The M.2 slots are protected by M.2 Thermal Guard L and M.2 Thermal Guard Ext heatsinks, which prevent performance throttling of high-speed SSDs. A full-coverage metal backplate improves the overall thermal performance of the board by 14% and strengthens its entire structure.
Memory subsystem
DDR5 memory can operate at high frequencies. The motherboard features four DIMM slots for a dual-channel configuration with a total capacity of up to 256GB. It supports AMD EXPO and Extreme Memory Profile for easy overclocking. D5 Bionic Corsa technology with AI-driven optimisation supports stable operation of memory modules up to 9000MHz.
Fast data transfers
Modern interfaces deliver high data transfer speeds between external devices. Two integrated USB 4.0 Type-C ports support transfer speeds of up to 40Gb/s and DisplayPort video output. Network connectivity is handled by a 5Gb/s Realtek RTL8126 LAN controller and a Qualcomm QCNCM865 wireless module. The Wi-Fi 7 wireless network operates with a 320MHz bandwidth in the 2.4, 5 and 6GHz bands.
Easy assembly
Building a PC is simpler with mechanical features that make installation easier. The PCIe EZ-Latch Plus system lets you release the graphics card from its slot with the push of a single button. The M.2 heatsinks and drives themselves are mounted without screws using the EZ-Latch Click and EZ-Latch Plus mechanisms. The WIFI EZ-Plug connector combines the antenna connection into a single, easy-to-connect adapter.
Realtek sound system and mechanical durability
The audio output uses a Realtek ALC1220-VB codec with an ESS ES9118 DAC converter for clear sound reproduction. The board supports DTS:X Ultra surround sound. The PCIe UD Slot X has 10× the load-bearing capacity thanks to its one-piece design anchored to the backplate. An inner rubber strip protects the graphics card's PCB from scratches during installation.
