Skylake-X - Technology on the Cutting Edge
The Intel Core i9-7960X DELID processor features 16 physical cores and is part of the new, modern X series. It is built with a 14nm manufacturing process using the most advanced technology available. Each core runs at a basic 2.8GHz frequency with Turbo mode and automatic overclocking up to 4.2GHz. As with the previous generation, the memory controller is integrated into the chip. It is a four-channel DDR4 memory controller that can operate at a frequency of up to 2666MHz. Additionally, the processor has a 22MB cache.
Turbo Boost Max 3.0
This processor is primarily designed for desktops and Intel has integrated advanced technology that ensures the maximum performance. Turbo Boost Max 3.0 is able to test each core individually and choose the best one. The upper-performance limit can be a difference of as much as 15% and it would be useless not to use it. The selected core then runs continuously at the maximum frequency, and the system gives it preferential use.
