Technology at the Top

The processor offers 4 physical cores and is part of the modern Haswell series. It uses a 22nm production process using the tri-gate 3D transistor technology. New instruction kits have been added to offer higher performance at the same beat. Each kernel runs at 3.5 GHz with Turbo mode and automatic overclocking, up to 3.6 GHz, if needed. As with the previous generation, the memory controller is integrated into the chip directly. It is a four-channel DDR4 memory controller that can operate at up to 2133 MHz. The processor cache is up to 10 MB.

Intel Turbo Boost 2.0

This technology overwhelms busy kernels, or turns off unnecessary ones. Overclocking is done by changing the multiplier. Each kernel has its own multiplier, so there may be a case where the two kernels are turned off, and the remaining two kernels each are at different frequencies.
