Thanks to parity checking, the memory offers maximum control over the transferred data. Parity checking uses auxiliary information (a parity bit) added to a one-byte word to verify the correctness of the transimtted data.

Registered memory modules are equipped with their own controller, which manages the access to the individual memory modules and so facilitates the work of the motherboard or processor memory controllers. Externally, the memory behaves as a single module - register chip - which is responsible for writing and reading of the individual memory cells and only the outcome of these operations is passed to the controller. This increases the efficiency of memory access and the processing speed even when using multiple memory modules simultaneously. Some server boards require registered memory.
