ECC Technology

ECC technology checks transparently and in real time the integrity of data stored in memory. It can find and fix an error in one bit and detect the error in two bits. Some memory controllers also work with the ECC to repair large-scale errors. Most professional desktops require ECC-enabled memory. In cooperation with parity control, the memory achieves maximum control of transmitted data. The parity consists in adding the auxiliary information to the one-bit word (the so-called parity bit) and can subsequently verify the authenticity of the transferred data.

Registered memory is equipped with a proprietary controller that controls access to individual memory modules, making it easier for the memory controller on the board or processor to work. The memory behaves outwardly as a single module - registered chip - which takes care of the writing and reading from individual memory cells, and the controller transmits the result of these operations. This increases the efficiency of memory access and processing speed even when multiple memory modules are used at the same time. Some server boards require registered memory.
