Kingston 8 GB DDR3 1600MHz ECC Registered Single Rank x4 VLP
This Kingston memory module is designed for select IBM servers. It supports ECC Registered Single Rank technology and has a capacity of 8 GB with a maximum operating frequency of 1600 MHz, with reduced voltage. The memories have a bus width of 72 bits (64 bits for data and 8 bits for ECC) and they are marked as "Registered," meaning they are equipped with an access controller for each memory module. This makes work easier for the board controller and processor. It also increases the efficiency of access to memory and processing speeds even when multiple memory modules are used at the same time. Certain server boards strictly require Registered memory types.
The memory behaves externally as the only module - the register chip - which takes care of writing and reading from individual memory cells and only transfers the result of these operations to the controller, further increasing efficiency. Error-correcting Code technology checks the integrity of the data stored in the memory in real-time. It can find and fix a single-bit error and at least reveal the wrong double-bit. Some memory controllers can also repair larger-scale errors in conjunction with the ECC. Most server boards require memory with ECC technology.
