Moreover, with dual Thunderbolt 2 ports, the latest USB 3.0, and a 7200 RPM hard drive, you can safely handle 4K video, or perform other data-intensive processes with maximum speed.

Connect up to 6 devices
The LaCie d2 combines Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.0 interface for the best possible speed when connected to PCs or Macs. The dual Thunderbolt 2 ports also let you daisy-chain up to 6 devices to a single Thunderbolt port on your computer.
Lightning Fast Data Transfers
Featuring a high-speed 7200 RPM Seagate hard drive, the LaCie d2 is able to achieve an impressive read speed of up to 220 MB/s. For example, this will enable you to work with an extensive library of A/V editing tools without slowing down. Also, photographers will appreciate the ability to create quick backups of their valuable data in literally seconds.
Rugged Body
The hard drive's body is made from a single piece of metal, which makes it almost unbreakable. Another advantage is that it significantly reduces vibrations and noise.
Efficient cooling
The aluminium body also provides 60% more surface area than standard flat designs and has more and larger air holes to facilitate airflow. This means it stays cool without requiring a noise-producing fan, making it perfect for even the most noise-sensitive environments.
Optional SSD
Install the optional LaCie d2 SSD Upgrade (sold separately) to push data transfer speeds to up to five times faster. This way, your hard drive will reach read speeds of up to 1150 MB/s which surpasses even most internal SSDs. Simply remove the rear panel on the LaCie d2 to install the upgrade,and instantly you have an additional 128 GB of SSD storage
Automatic Backup
The LaCie d2 includes everything you need for secure backup: a backup software suite, and compatibility with Time Machine and Windows Backup.
Password Protection
The LaCie d2 also includes LaCie Private-Public software, which lets you password-protect your data with AES 256-bit encryption.
Energy saving
By pressing the power button, you can to turn the device off or on without affecting the daisy-chained network.
