What quality tests does Durex condoms pass?
Each piece of Durex condoms undergoes electronic testing. In addition, additional random samples are then selected from each batch for more stringent tests. For condoms, the thickness and length are measured, and then the specimens are inflated with air for flexibility and endurance before rupture. Interestingly, Durex condoms normally hold up to 40 liters of air. Another test is filling with water and then examining for leakage. Up to 2 million such tests are carried out at Durex factories per month. If the sample does not pass one of the tests, for example, the entire batch is discarded.
What do the numbers printed on the back of the condom foil mean?
The numbers on the transparencies and boxes indicate the batch number and expiration date, which is the time for which the product can be used safely. The normal shelf life of Durex condoms is 5 years, then 3 years for non-latex condoms. For example, the expiration date of 2018-09 indicates that the condom was manufactured in September 2018.
Is it safe to use a condom underwater or in the shower?
