Frequently asked questions

For washing a child's clothes and bed linen, you should use special washing powders and detergents with a smaller amount of detergents, such as Lovela Baby. These products are hypoallergenic, which means they do not contain substances that can irritate a child's sensitive skin. Available products for children should have a positive review from the Institute of Mother and Child or the Children's Health Centre on their label. Toddlers' clothes should be washed in detergents designed for children for the first year of their life, and in special cases, where allergic reactions occur in close relatives or children, up to the age of 3.
The basis of care for skin with psoriasis is proper care combined with the use of moisturising and emollient products, as well as avoiding factors that worsen the symptoms of the disease. Appropriately selected baby care products will certainly not replace treatment, but they will help to alleviate the symptoms of the disease and improve quality of life. For patients with psoriasis, both cosmetics and cleaning products must meet very strict criteria. They must be non-irritating, hypoallergenic, with a lower amount of detergents, and free of fragrances, optical brighteners, and chemicals. Lovela Baby undoubtedly meets these criteria, so washing clothes for people with psoriasis in Lovela Baby products can reduce skin irritation in a child and thus help in the care of sensitive skin.
The clothes of newborns, infants and young children, due to the special requirements of their skin, should be washed in specially designed fabric softeners or washing powders, such as Lovela Baby. These products do not contain enzymes or optical brighteners, while the amount of cleaning agents and fragrances has been kept to a minimum in accordance with the requirements of the Institute of Mother and Child. This is all to ensure the powder or detergent is hypoallergenic, i.e. non-irritating and non-allergenic. Lovela Baby undoubtedly has all these benefits, and it is also one of the most frequently used products by new mothers. But it does happen that the most hypoallergenic product is allergenic. We are then talking about individual predisposition. Often it is not the powder itself that is to blame for skin irritation, but improper washing (insufficient rinsing or too much detergent added), which can cause the remaining powder residues on clothes to irritate the child's skin. So always use detergents in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
A baby's skin is extremely sensitive and requires special treatment. Special attention is required for the areas that are in contact with the nappy, as they remain in contact with urine and faeces, which exposes them to irritation. Improper care of the bottom can lead to nappy rash, which is very painful and quite difficult to treat. Therefore, following the principle that prevention is better than cure, follow a few rules:
  • Regardless of whether you use reusable or disposable nappies, change them frequently, and in the case of reusable nappies, change them after every urination.
  • For washing baby clothes, especially nappies, use products for children, e.g. Lovela Baby, whose formula has been developed for sensitive skin. This will prevent irritation and reduce its occurrence.
  • If you use disposable nappies, choose those with an 'air' function and do not fasten them too tightly to ensure air can get to the skin.
  • Every time you change a nappy, wash the bottom with wet wipes, cotton wool or soapy water, then dry well.
  • Let your baby lie with a bare bottom for a while before putting on a nappy; the skin needs ventilation.
  • Apply a cream or protective oil-based ointment to your toddler's bottom at every nappy change.
  • If nappy rash appears, apply a healing ointment with lanolin or zinc. If this does not help and the skin redness increases and follicular eczema and discharge also appear, it is necessary to see a paediatrician, probably because a superinfection has occurred.
  • All clothes bought for a baby must be washed and ironed.
  • Wash in detergents for children that have a positive review from the Institute of Mother and Child, e.g. Lovela Baby.
  • Make sure the laundry is well rinsed, preferably twice.
  • Initially, do not use fabric softener, which is added to the last rinse and unfortunately remains in the fabric, so it can irritate the skin.
  • Check the washing temperature indicated on the label to avoid damaging the clothes.
  • Most bacteria are killed at 60°C, so there is no need to 'boil wash' baby clothes.
