It is often accompanied by intra-abdominal infection, laparostomy, enterocutaneous fistulas, and intestinal failure.

The presented text summarizes a number of aspects in the treatment of abdominal catastrophes, aiming to create a comprehensive view of the issue with an emphasis on practical application. It describes this treatment from many perspectives, providing a comprehensive overview of the problems that healthcare professionals face when treating these patients, and at the same time providing basic guidelines for solving them.

Despite the continuous development of science and knowledge, the number of patients with abdominal catastrophes in our departments is not decreasing, therefore this publication should be of benefit to the general professional public in the prevention and treatment of abdominal catastrophes.
