A Journey in Pursuit of a Distant Dream

The novel describes one colourful life story – from an idyllic childhood in the countryside, through the political turmoil of the big city and romantic heartbreaks, to exciting and risky travel adventures. You can catch a good ride with the heroine and wander all the way to Bombay, travel with an armed convoy through the African wilderness, head into the Cuban Sierra Maestra massif on horseback or overcome obstacles while doing business in India.

The professional career of traveller Ivana Dirk Lukačovičová is diverse – after earning her doctorate in English and German literature at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, she taught German at the University of Economics, worked as a translator, a marketing director for a construction company, and held various positions in Angola, Cuba, and India.
